Reason #1The Arctic fox is adapted to the cold, but unlike most animals, it hard for them to find their food source. Originally, the arctic fox eats arctic hares, bird, and bird eggs. But their main food source is the lemming and the population of arctic fox are decreasing as the population size fluctuates with the cycle of the lemming population. The conservation status of the species are doing okay, but it unfortunately keeps decreasing. Other than that, the only other endangered place of arctic fox is the Scandinavian mainland.

Reason #2Another reason why the Arctic Fox is endangered is because people hunt and kill them for the fur. There losing ground to the larger Red. People hunt them down because of its extremely high quality pelt. Native populations particularly by people live close to them are usually the ones who still hunt for them. The Arctic Fox is not as vulnerable to over exploitation, considering the fur trade has decreased dramatically.

Reason #3Last, a reason why the arctic fox is becoming endangered is because the population of red foxes (arctic foxes' predators) are increasing. The breeding of arctic foxes are slowing as red foxes breeding in mildly increasing. Other predator animals include polar bears, wolf packs, large birds such as snowy owls, arctic fox cubs, and humans are only real predators of the adult Arctic fox.
